Brittania - Shutting down

Just heard a very disquieting bit of news. Brittania and Co in Ballard Pier is apparently shutting down. Am in shock.

Update : Brittania is not shutting down but selling out. This is from the owner's mouth. Wonder if I will ever get the oily mutton cutless, the fried bombil or the mutton dhansak ever again. The Berry pulao is also something to be missed but perhaps @ 270/- bucks a plate not so much in these times

Global Fusion - Buffet

I tend to be highly skeptical of restaurants called Global Fusion. They typically end up being a supremely average mish mash of stuff in which the Indian food is the best. By Indian I mean Indian Chinese, Indian Italian and Indian any other cuisine you can think of. The second problem I had was that Global Fusion basically does Chinese, Japanese and the token Thai. So call it Asian Fusion dammit and not mislead me by saying Global Fusion. Me for truth in Brand names.

Anyway after this complete rant I must admit that Global Fusion is really very good value. The buffet on weekends for dinner is under a grand per person and in that you get unlimited Sushi (Really very good sashimi, Maki rolls as well as some extremely fresh Unagi), really good steamed dimsums as well as some awesome Tempura. Their dumpling soup was the best I've had in the city. Its so delicately flavoured that it just works!!. In addition to this you get some very good main courses. The prawns were large and delicious, the crab legs (Yes crabs in a buffet) were good and the desserts were a very decent enough assortment. The steamed garoupa is also extremely worthy as well as the other fishy stuff

What did not work though was the steamed buns (Good but not as good as the rest of the stuff). All in all a very good experience. My fear is that either prices will be hiked or the place will go out of business. Global fusion is in the same mall as Croma in Bandra and the same lane as !!shudder!! KFC.
